Who We Are
JAFO Education Foundation is a non-governmental organization dedicated to improving access to quality education for all children in Kisarawe District, Coast Region (Pwani), Tanzania.
Founded with a vision to break the cycle of poverty through education, we work tirelessly in rural and semi-urban areas of Kisarawe District, where educational challenges are most pronounced. Our organization recognizes that education is not just a fundamental human right, but the cornerstone of community development and sustainable progress.
Kisarawe District faces significant educational challenges including limited learning resources, inadequate school infrastructure, high student-to-teacher ratios, and low access to educational support for vulnerable children, particularly girls and children from low-income families. These challenges have resulted in high dropout rates, poor academic performance, and limited opportunities for young people to reach their full potential.
JAFO Education Foundation addresses these challenges through comprehensive, community-centered programs that provide immediate relief while building long-term capacity. We believe in working alongside communities, schools, teachers, parents, and students to create sustainable solutions that will benefit generations to come.
Our Location & Focus
We operate primarily in Kisarawe District, located in the Coast Region (Pwani) of Tanzania. Kisarawe is a diverse area comprising both rural villages and semi-urban centers, situated approximately 30 kilometers from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania's largest city.
Despite its proximity to the economic hub of the country, Kisarawe District faces unique challenges that have hindered educational development. Many communities lack basic infrastructure, including proper roads, electricity, and clean water access. Schools in the area often operate with insufficient resources, overcrowded classrooms, and limited teaching materials.
Our work focuses on bridging these gaps by providing targeted support to schools and students across the district. We partner with local government authorities, community leaders, and international organizations to maximize our impact and ensure that our interventions are culturally appropriate and sustainable.
